pc gone down,virus blank screen.

or try last known good configuration if your given that option after pressing F8 or whatever function key will get you into that menu on startup
 
To load the last known good configuration in Windows 2000 / XP reboot the computer and as it's booting booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Last Known Good Configuration" and press your Enter key.

OK done that but Internet explorer is still connecting,i remember before that a guy told me how to set it back to when it was working fine like before i downloaded some programs like spy bot and different things,and when i restarted they were all gone and PC was fine then.
can you tell me how to do this.thanks paddy

if you want to try a system restore just click on start and type system restore in the search bar and then double click on the result, select a restore point, chances are though that whatevers affecting your system will still be on it so you will still need to clean it up, but at least if you get it working with the restore this will give you the chance to do so.

is internet explorer starting by itself when windows starts up?
if its 256mb of ram you have i'd recommend a memory upgrade too, very cheap these days, will help your comp a bunch too!

I apologize, but I'm getting kinda confused here. What exactly have you done, and what do you want to do next? :grin: You switched direction between post #21 and #22, and now that the option of System Restore has been given... :willy nilly:

If you still want to try cleaning up your PC, it isn't impossible, but it may require some work. Just say the word.

sorry lads been away have to work weekends,i got PC running and not shutting down thanks to u guys,its still running extremely slow so i need to clean it up,u say i have to many programs on that i don't need,can u help me clean whatever is slowing it down,wont be able to get to it till tomorrow have to work tonight.THANKS FOR ALL UR HELP.PADDY
 
at first glance you have avg and mcafee running,if mcafee is paid for get rid of avg. have to run, hatton fighting soon. other guys have more knowledge with hijack reports but just have a look through add/remove programs, you should know what you need and dont need from there. run a defrag afterward too, download auslogic, its posted in useful free applications thread already.
 
ok sorry for delay,i download malwarebytes and it found 125 infections i cleaned and deleted them all,i also removed programs hp,avg and some others,it took a full day to download malwarebytes total total mess,going to do ur next step now,thanks so much.

these guys will help you as much as they can - it cant be that bad. but sounds like you have found quite a lot of problems on your pc. maybe do another test and let the lads see what else may be wrong - or better still can you let someone check it via remote assistance

90% of people bin their pcs, when they dont have to. They then go & spend more money on a new one.
