Lost my channels tonight, my IPTV provider told me that my fibre Broadband provider is blocking me while football is on . No channels have come back on so contacted him again after the football . He stated that plusnet have targeted iptv this evening and blocked all content. He stated that I need a vpn ? Can anybody help and confirm if this is correct . And is it easy to install a vpn on a vu duo ( old box I know ) many thanks

My parents are with them, and i got no calls from them tonight, dads a Chelsea fan (sorry)
Just text him, everything was good.

Lots of ISPs blocked IPTV tonight, TalkTalk was one of them, Your plusnet another, which probably means BT too as that is who plusnet is. A simple VPN account for a couple of quid a month would solve this for you on football nights.

Your provider, if he knows he is being blocked, should really be looking at moving things his end, but I would imagine the phrase "Use VPN" will become more and more common from providers the more times they get the IPs blocked for end users. I don't know what they have to do with regards to complexity of moving stuff, but just moving a website is a pain. I think I would get warn down if I was the one being blocked.

My parents have a provider that doe's not require a VPN.
Thats why they never got blocked.
I have a provider which doesn't get blocked too, also one which did last night after about 2 months of being fine.

Steptoe is spot on with yet. It only takes something small for an iptv server to be found and the next thing is the ISP block the IP address or the server gets reported and the server company shut it down for breaking the T&Cs of the hosting contract. Don't presume that because it hasn't been blocked yet doesn't mean it wont.

I would imagine there is a large team of people looking for the servers. I presume this would be on the EPL side of things as the ISPs won't active look I wouldn't have thought. They just have to block the IP when it has been given to them - by law. That is only how my mind thinks it works though, I could be wrong.

Constant "cat n mouse" with ISP's. who will win ?. I have been told by a stream provider that when VM stops CS at the end of Jan it will not effect them ! How is this possible.
Maybe his name is R Branson

Yeah, my IPTV provider has an Xmas sale in with people throwing themselves at the 12month deal, but 99% of them seem unaware of Virgin effectively killing HD sport card sharing come Jan 31st.
I imagine my IPTV provider is perfectly aware, but if they have all the money up front.....

It could possibly have been that your supplier was getting blocked from their end and not the isp provider doing the block

CS is NOT stopping any time in January, VM are trying to stop the HD sports channels but it won't affect any other HD channels or the SD sports channels - that's it. It's not even set in stone yet that he HD sports channels will go in January, it's just a proposal but they won't be able to implement it if they don't get cardless boxes to all their customers in time.

Got a point wooshman the isp don't automatically block you out it gets passed to them by big brother and then they have to act or be done by not obliging to the high court ruling I got blocked twice but now my provider has things in place as he didn't want to loose customers but like I said before how long before they get round the vpn that's my way of thinking

I heard that virgin was making changes to channels in 2018. but not regarding c/s with virgin

Virgin media aren't giving out free V6 boxes out of the goodness of their hearts. It's costing them millions and they will almost certainly end the HD sport card sharing in early 2018.
It is not a co incidence that their own website says you will need - and get - a free new box if you wish to watch sport in HD yet no mention of HD movies etc - clearly under pressure from Sky or the FA.
They haven't been giving these expensive boxes out for free since... September? to suddenly backtrack......
Guess we will all find out come Feb!

States that :
Customers who are paying for Sky Sports channels in HD do not replace their older set top box(es) by 31st January 2018 will no longer be able to receive Sky Sports channels in HD on their older box(es) after this date. When we remove the Sky Sports channels in HD from older set top boxes, we will remove the monthly Sky Sports HD charge from those customers who do not have any other HD box(es).

I don't know what charge they make for having SS in HD rather than SD so no idea how they will change their billing accordingly for those who refuse to upgrade to a HD box, but all those who don't have a HD box won't simply be 'cut off' as that would be breach of contract, ergo, CS won't be coming to an end any time soon.
