Question about A780

Hello

Im having a read about the A780, and a friend just bought one, he installed and had channels immediately. Im using card share with satellite, does this A780 use the same procedure, a monthly sub?, card share?

If this is a daft question , apologies, but ive search for this and cant find an answer.

kv is a cable box connected up to a vm source by coaxial cable to receive tv and radio channels and the lan cable with the firmware installed directs the box to the server to decrypt the channels.no sub for kv at the moment.
the sat box you have will be better than a cable box but as you say card share is a payview sub.

Im more than happy with satellite , rather than vm, i was curious to what the hype was all about these boxes.
From what ive been reading , the prices are a tad high
