question re. missing channels...

ok, have normal sky box which is working fine...

bought h.2s to replace it.. but the h2.s appears to not be picking up some channels..

Eg..manual scan of Astra 28.2e 12148 H comes back with zero channels.... but should be picking some up?

on an auto scan i can get 600ish channels and when i do a signal strength check on the above numbers - it has zero signal...


faulty LNB ???

possibly faulty LNB, however if it was was picking up the channels fine whith your h2.s then I would doubt it.
Do you have the right tuner configured correctly?
Also have you plugged the sat feed into this port:

I wouldn't do a manual scan go through auto bouquets maker.
providers, area: *your area*Custom (not SD or HD)
then save then start scan.

hi - its 100% plumbed in right..

i fear my initial description may have been misleading....

sky appears to pick up and know about all channels. but my h.2s box does not find them all...

so - is there a handy guide to configuring tuners naywhere?

which may or may not get me past the autobouqets error i get... but lets see if i can can find all channels first.... im not greedy!

okay here goes:
follow these steps.

menu > setup > search searching > tuner configuration > may as well configure with of the tuners with the current settings:
Configuration Mode: Simple
Mode: Single
Satellite: 28.2E Astra 2E/2F/2G
Send DiSEqC: no

menu > setup > search searching > AutoBouquetsMaker > Providers > $ly UK
$ly UK area: Your area Custom (not SD or HD)
$ly UK FTA only: no
$ly UK generate main bouquet: yes (only FTA HD)
$ly UK generate sections bouquets: yes
$ly UK generate HD bouquet: yes
$ly UK generate FTA bouquet: yes
$ly UK swap channels: yes if you want the channels to be replaced where they can with HD (bbc1 etc.)

start scan.

that brings up another issue.... timeout for tuner lock... which is consistent with tuner b enabled, set up as a copy of a, or disabled.....

ahhh, just realised im in wrong forum... BUT.. think have found problem anyway...

zero signal on one reciever..

swap cables and signal/no signal swaps also...

I dont have a H2S hooked up at the minute to confirm settings but I would have thought that with no signal to tuner B (if it is set correctly) suggests a connection problem so Id be looking to see both feeds come directly into the box from the dish & not looped anywhere before the box, then Id remove & refit the F connectors to be sure of good connections

you are scanning on a non working frequency like doing a manual scan as in look at that photo above=predefined image scan on a set transponder.
if you know correct frequency and tp you can do above and scan.

the above info posted has nothing to do with abm,full scan on 28.2 should be well over 900+ channels

weirder and weirder..

took off extension cables ( coax from wall to TY unit ) for sky box.. and both recievers now have signal...

but, full scan only picks up sky sports hd channels and no movie channels at all..

and if i try to a manual scan against 12148 H - where i'd expect to pick up sky sports 1 and 4 in SD if i believe this Search Results for - KingOfSat

- i get 'no channels found'....

did you find out what the issue was I'm experiencing similar gone from a working box to only finding 565 channels non of which are sly.....my abm also says timeout for tuner lock

on manual scan, set tune to single satellite
