Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez remained positive despite being unhappy with his side’s performance against Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi-final 1-0 defeat.

Diego Forlan scored the only goal of the game with a scrambled finish early in the first half, and Benitez's men failed to force a breakthrough and a crucial away goal.

Despite this, the Reds manager was upbeat about his side's chances of progressing to the final.

“I’m disappointed because we have conceded a goal, we couldn’t score but it's half time [in the tie]” he told Five.

“I was disappointed with a lot of things. It was strange goal, but we have the second game at Anfield.

“I have confidence we can beat anyone at Anfield and the fans will be right behind us
