Router settings for IPTV

Hi guys wondering if anyone can help me. Ive currently got a working IPTV line but was lagging abit so ive upgraded to fibre broadband. Can anyone give me the correct router settings so i can maximise performance? I.e internet connection settings, dns, authentication, port fowarding....
ISP is talktalk
Router is asus
Zgemma h2s box is connection via ethernet

Much appreciated

There is nothing you can do in the router settings to improve it. But try and install the plugin netspeedtest or e2speedtest on the box. Run it and see if you are getting good speeds and a good ping result (less than 50) Post back if you have any issues

As pablo said it's best to use googles dns servers however when i used them i got a bigger ping than using the dns server addresses from my ISP. Just try different settings run spped test on the box and find out what works for you best

Ive tried using googles dns servers and the ping was over 105. I changed back and connected to my isp via automatic ip and the ping is 45 but the download speed is just at 5.85mbps, expected better from fibre

Im watching the football now and theres hardly any buffering but the screen keeps freezing so im having to switch channels back and forth its doing my head in. Any ideas whether this is the internet connection or if its a different problem

Your getting less than 6mbps on fibre?? You have a problem there mate... You running through a second router with a VPN or directly off ISP supplied router. It could be your speed is being throttled by your ISP. But 6mbps is far to slow for a fibre connection.

Good luck

Im running through an asus router not the router talktalk supplied me with. Im running a vpn through the router. I was streaming a movie on my laptop last night and that was freezing too. Its getting on my tits. Ive been timing the freezing and it happens every 7 minutes

Turn you VPN off and see how that works your speed is being nailed either because your router isn't man enough or you VPN is running slowly.

Good luck

I got onto talktalk to complain, went through all of their procedures (including changing over to the talktalk router) and i couldnt even get onto the internet. Theyre sending out an engineer to check things over. Soon as i moved back to the asus router the internet was back on. I knocked the vpn off as you said, the ping was shorter and the download speed went right upto 33.53 mbps....is it best to keep the vpn off or change the vpn location? Thanks for your help
