Satellites and biss keys?

Hi guys I watched a YouTube video and guy was talking about live football betting and said there are some people out there that collect biss keys and have satellites in their back gardens to get faster pictures as in low latency.

I was just wondering if anyone could explain exactly what all this is? I know satellites pictures probably have a 5 second lag and things like HD and 4K increases the lag. Was just wondering how biss keys and satellites in garden would provide less latency than normal pictures at home?
 
Live feed - audio/video directly from the event.
For example Royal Ascot today.

On 0.8w there is a live feed for ITV encrypted in biss. It is the live raw camera feeds that are sent back to hq before being edited as needed and sent out to the masses (via freeview/Freesat) etc.

Because you are not waiting for the feed to pass through different sources, edited and sent back out, what you see will normally be a few seconds ahead of traditional tv.
