scenic handbrake computer

Hi all , HELP!! does any 1 know if the electronic handbrake on a 54 scenic can be wiped and reprogrammed , renault want £600 to replace mine even though it works sometimes they say HB computer needs replacing but i have to buy full unit i thought all computers could be fixed to a point !

Renault had a recall for this problem with a FREE FIX. If you google Renault recalls it will give you the correct recall number. Or if you can get hold of an OBD11 reader you can delete the fault yourself.

or if it doesnt come off when released there's an override in the boot

cheers pugsteve , i have released it in the boot and it comes on and off intermittingly wich tells me the motor still works but renault say i need the whole unit, surely the computer can be re- programmed without shelling out £600 can another mechanic do this , any suggestions welcome ,( except to dump the pile of 5h1t )
