GARDAI are investigating a break-in at the home of Leinster rugby coach Joe Schmidt while he was away with the team over the weekend.
The incident took place while Schmidt was in France with the European champions to play Clermont.
It is understood that among the items stolen but later recovered were his two Heineken Cup medals.
Schmidt arrived back from the defeat in the group stages of the competition having been told that his home was targetted.
A window at the rear of his property in the Churchtown area of Dublin was smashed and a number of personal items removed from the house.
Officers later arrested three men who were taken to Rathfarnham Garda Station for questioning.
A spokesman for Schmidt told the Herald today the rugby coach would not be commenting on the incident.
It is understood it was the second time his house was targeted by burglars while he was away with Leinster.
On a previous occasion, his home was ransacked but the raiders only made off with a small amount of New Zealand dollars.
Two men appeared in Tallaght District Court yesterday charged in connection with the latest incident.
One of the individuals was released on bail and the other was remanded in custody.
The second man, a 44-year-old from Rathfarnham, is also charged with possession of gloves and a torch for use in a theft at another address in Churchtown on the same date.
