Sky remote

is it possible to use a sky remote control on a V8S? the remote that came with the box is terrible and very clicky noise wise. If not are there any other remotes that are better quiality and quieter

They don't work unless you can buy the URC which copies the other remote .
There are 3 types of remote for the openbox/skybox and the latest big button is the best so far---e-bay or amazon.

I also dislike that remote because it has loads of keys missing (it only has 39 buttons instead of the 50/51 buttons on the older types).

That's my favourite. But the only thing I don't like about it is that the print is hard to read on the blue buttons (they should have used black print on light blue, rather than white). Still, when you use it all the time, you get to know where the buttons are anyway.

The wife is moaning about the clicking of the remote...you know what us men are like constantly skipping channels. That one looks like it might be similar to the sky remote construction wise
