hi folks, reading a lot of interesting and informative posts on both the skybox 3 and 5, I have the skybox f4 and i haven`t seen any posts
on the forum either in reviews or general. did i buy a bad box?, it`s my first box and i`m only new to "seal lions" set up and figured it all out thanks to the tutorials here on how, so a big thanks to all the lads. lastly any feedback on this skybox model welcome thanks

john.

good for caravans if you wanna take your box for something to do during our so called summer!! thats if you can get a mobile sim to work in it.

I think all the info should apply to your box
just as it does the F3 and F5.

For some reason the box supplyers seemed
have jumped from 3 to 5,

Haven't seen any complaints, but the F3 and
F4 are very similar exept yours has got a scart
connection added.

They then moved the PSU outside the box with the F5
and it became a lot smaller and neater looking.

I don't think it does anything extra I think it's just
asthetics

But someone may know more.

Can you plug a mobile sim directly into the USB connector
to use WIFI with these ?

I used a mobile dongle in a travel router connected to a blade last year,
results weren't great I must admit, was going to have another go this year.

should think a mobile network router would be fine after all its only a router. but with f4 they have a mobile sim card slot.you can buy a plug in unit for f5 that uses the serial port something like $31 but dont know if it supports any uk mobile networks.

Ok thanks, was just wondering if you can plug
dongle straight into the box, will just use my router
again

thanks guys for the feedback and yes Bees the dongle just slips in the front and set the box to wireless in the network settings,it`s easy enough to do. i`m still learning to find my way around this box it`s all new to me at the moment. thanks again guys.

Im on an F5 but read about the wireless thing,
that's why I was wondering if it would work without the router,
I will have a play around with it before the summer
caravaning trip.

you could always get a wifi dongle and teather it to your smart phones personal hotspot(wifi router in your pocket!!) saves messing around with addons and sim cards. make sure you have your hotspot security set to wpa2 aes works a treat on htc desire
