hey

i bought my skybox f5 for my dad and it turned out to be a clone,well i cant get any firmware for it?! i tried official and also here

its all file mismatch


i got my friend a openbox f5 and it took the firmware upgrades fine and i noticed his menu is different from my dads one,see my dads is like this onedesc_292094755_00.jpg


i cant find one that looks like the openbox but it is basically the same apart from there is no box on the right it is like the box on the left there is spread across the bottom! but the same background and basic menu,although the openbox has a epg menu! where you can upgrade it using xmltv but my dads skybox does not have this menu!

also the recording on the openbox is fine but the skybox its all jittery even with the same usb drive!

so really i would like to upgrade the firmware to be the same as the openbox!


i was wondering is the menu difference the firmware? i mean the layout?








also i have a openbox m4 mini and i cant seem to get channel lists for it?
 
If your Dad's Skybox is an F5 (& not an F5s) then it's not capable of using the XMLTV EPG. I assume your mates Openbox is an V5s & not an F5 if it has the "EPG & time setting" option in the menu.

Firmware for cloned boxes can be obtained from hddvbsw.com.

What firmware is your Dad's box currently running (Menu > tools >information > software ver.)?

I've a cloned F5S went to hddvbsw.com,which file should I download tried 2 but got file mismatch when I tried to upgrade by USB...

Probably a dumb question, but why the NEED to upgrade the firmware ?
The nline setup doesnt rely on any fancy firmware, so Im just curious as to why you think it needs updated.
Install the nline file via usb from your provider, see how it goes, and only then if there is an issue do you look for a firmware fix.
 
That updated Ok....But no EPG in System Setup..?Now I'm dizzy..I'll try switching it off at mains then reboot...
 
No EPG...so if orginal F5S why did it not do a update from Skybox upload file...Did read somewhere that some "F5S" were F5 and don't work with EPG upload...Thanks Kremmen for your help......

Which is still showing the old firmware.

If your box had flashed OK with the firmware from the download section it should show 3601HD_10_04_2014_0670 (the last 4 digits might be different, but the date should be the same).
 
My skybox F5s sw ver. starts M5 HD.. and throws 'mismatch' for official fw from skybox cc. The link to the site for clone fw is broken, is there anywhere else I can try?
