hi all trying to solder a charging port on a laptop has anybody any idea what soldering iron would do the job ?many thanks

Almost anything with an adjustable temperature dial.

Those gas ones are good, I have a couple of the older model ones.
I wouldn't go for anything over 40w TBH, that's plenty hot for most electrics/electronics

Hope that it has nice big pads that make it easy for you. Some modern usb's are so small that you may need to use a heat gun. I have something similar to this.

I have recently changed the charging port on my son's oneplus nord 5g and that came as part of a board that you change. I think it cost something like £8.50 shipped from china.

Sorry seen that its laptop not a phone.
