Good morning fellow TK enthusiasts,

With great search and looking at Wooshmans post on OpenATV site regarding issues putting a splash.bin ( basically a bmp picture ) with an enigma2 image.

Post: 5.3 No longer flashing splash.bin with nightly build Zgemma H2S

I have managed previously with OpenVIX to add a custom boot screen but since moving to OpenATV 5.3 onwards i find it difficult to add this to my backup image. All the settings are set the same as the original by saving it as a bmp file at 24 bit and at a ratio of 720 x 576 or less. Has any other TK members had this issue and is there a possible solution.

if you are on pc you can get Xorion bootlogo installer or if your on mac you can get iDreamX
both of them bits of software will make it super easy

get any image in bigger the better so you can set it to 1080p if you want
set up your ftp details on your box
convert the image and send it

easy

but if you are using some skins i know with kiddacs slyk skin you need to replace his radio and reboot skins

if you have made some and want to share please do

With Woosh, the Xorion app puts the logos in the wrong place.. They need to be in /etc/enigma2 and you need to replace backdrop.mvi, bootlogo.mvi and bootlogo_wait.mvi.

Thanks guys for reply but i have no problems with the background screens as i already use xorion as i am comfortable in making mvi files which are mpg. What i mean is the initial boot of the splash.bin which is a bmp pic thats added to the image when you flash to give a nice boot screen. When flashing with vix or atv you get their respected screens to which i can change no problem on my sons vix but my atv since updating to 5.3 just wont add a new splash boot screen.

I'm confused.. I replace those files and while the box boots, I see the pictures.. what does splash.bin do that those files dont?
 
I have never used a slash file or changed it. Everything I do is with the mvis

Xorion bootlogo installer or MVI files are in no way related to this issue guys. The file and point the screen appears is not known by many people as they often see a black screen while the box displays BOOT. It is normally when the box starts counting from 11-14 do they see their first boot screen and this is where the confusion always lies.

Stuartygr, I have not found a solution to this yes on the Zgemm H2S box. Even my 7 month old box has stopped doing it. The 2S however flashes it first time every time. I have even gone back to OpenATV 5.1 to try and resolve it with no luck. I have posted on OpenATV to be told that the BOOT screen is a gimmick and is not part of OpenATV anyway so they are not interested.

I have flashed an Edision no problem and like I said the 2S but the H2S is a shitebag. The only way I can do it at the moment is by manually doing it. To do this you just need the splash.bin, image version and noforce. This will then flash your BOOT screen.

I have zgemma.co.uk looking in to it, but initially they made the common mistake of thinking I meant the normal 11-14 upwards counter.

As of yet I am yet to find a fix.

Can you still flash it if you try a Vix image again? I know I can't. It just didn't work one day when I tried a new flash, but can't say when.
 
Thanks Wooshman for taking time to reply as this is doing my head in as to why its not working. Tried OpenVIX image and its the same. Its a hit and a miss though m8, i have previously managed it on my brothers H.2S but something thats straight forward is now becoming very annoying.
 
I have tried on 5 boxes now, 3 of then brand new and it still won't flash it like it used to. I even acquired the H2S bootloader and flashed that and tried again but still no joy.

We need H2S testers who are willing to try their boxes.

With that said, anyone who flashes WooshBuild v4 using BaseBuild should have it turn their BOOT screen into a giant W and I am sure someone would have mentioned the fact that they cannot get rid of it lol.

If I find anything out I will post back.
