Starview 5

Hi, I put the firmware on a USB stick and then put the stick in the back and chose the USB and file so yes as far as I know I have flashed box. just struggle with freezing channels, high pitch squeaks sometime and black screens, takes ages to load a channel with the ones that work

Try the firmware above as its the latest & see how you get on.

Delete the other firmware from your usb stick first.

Hi, I deleted the firmware, tried the one above.
Still freezing up, get occasional high pitch noise.
Its a brand new box, the signal is 97% on the right hand column and about 64% on left column

Attenuator

Which one would I need? Do you think the Variable TV Attenuator would be best suited? virgin media connection coming into the house - providing digital signal. Where would this be fitted?

Yes a variable attenuator will help. One with a slope control would be preferable to allow you to fine tune.

Where are you roughly as it wont be long before you are switched over to the N3 stream.

I am in Leicester,UK
I shall order a variable one if that should help

"Leicestershire (Set to receive new cards)"

You might want to be quick about getting that attenuator. Try to beat them before your area is changed to Nagra 3. Eventhough there isnt a long time left at all now, you can still get something out of it. 👍

I have now installed the thingy in the feed of the sat cable bit but finding its still freezing and occasionally get the high pitch noise. Whats the next suggestion?
