I have been following a few posts on Instagram and bloody horrified in seeing good edible food dumped in wheelie bins in date and throwing bottles of bleach inside them.

It makes me mad thinking of Wheelo busting his nuts to help the homeless and these companies not doing a thing to donate good food to soup kitchens or charities so it gets used.

Please give them a look in and try to get food eaten and not dumped. How many lives could be saved by all this food waste.

Also spread the word as people can make a difference if large enough.

A friend of mine worked in a Tesco's warehouse as a picker, he recons they were chucking away £10k a months worth of decent food because of say damaged packaging or a pallet would collapse, rather than sort it out or let staff take it or buy it at a discount, they'd bin it. Utter madness.
 
New posts on Instagram showing M and S putting locks on wheelie bins to hide what they are dumping.

Happening all over the UK as we in IRELAND have the FOOD CLOUD where food gets donated and not dumped.

What i like is these guys removing flowers and planters out of the bins and donating them to their local cafe to take for free is awesome and cleared out in no time.

If you live and shop in UK where does your supermarket dump stuff is the question.

Just asked an old colleague of mine who's now a Manager at Morrisons what is this all about and if it true in the uk its disgraceful.

While his branch do dump eatable food goods in the skip they don't lock it.

2 points he come up with.

One member of staff takes 30-45 mins every morning cleaning up the mess from the skip divers.

So i said reduce your waste and give short life food away to the correct charities then there is nothing in the skips of note.

His reply was the food banks around here have people visiting them that can and would pay for their food and use food banks to reduce their spending not because they have nothing, it's getting distributed to the wrong people. This is why supermarkets are not helping.

That is great that some are using food banks to get rid of food but other things like flowers and planters with bulbs and mugs get dumped , removed from bin to be dumped and donated to others and customers can take for free making less waste.

I believe 90% of whats in the bins could be directed to other sources.
 
we are able to donate in my store but only have one food bank that collects only on one day. theres nobody else who will collect.

also you have to put in context how much is wasted to how much is wasted 30 pallets delivered, one small box of waste.

thats consists of damaged stock, stock that is past sell by, fresh stock left dumped around shop, in freezers, recalls, refunds etc etc

there is lots of time pressures on staff, doing waste correctly is one of them, sometimes corners are cut.

i agree some policies could be better to reduce waste.
 
I use "too good to go" app, it has grocery boxes for a few quid, from aldi, asda, Morrisons and others.
No idea what your going to get but it's usually good stuff....chilled meals, bread, milk, fruit, veg etc.
There's also hot meals on there, carveries, breakfasts, bakeries etc
I can get a full breakfast every day of the week if I wanted, £2.50....it's what's left after these unlimited breakfast places stop, around 11am daily, the carveries are around 8.30 pm, they're about £3 and it's a load of sliced meat, veg, gravy etc, you dont get to choose but like the breakfasts, there's usually enough to feed two people in each box
 
Good news as now some are seeing whats going on and want to fix it is a start for all to do.

Things need to change and how many of you ask what happens to item in store?

Most things can be recycled or reused without going in the dumpster.

Why dump Christmas goods bottles of wine food mugs toys as can be diverted to others to get used.

Go ask the managers of the shop you use to see what they do
