Hope someone can help for the last week I've been searching the forum and internet.
I've put a 1T HDD to my zgemma box my mate formatted to Fat32 I now can record fast forward etc but I keep getting this message on Tv
Creating hardlink to the time shift file failed
The file system on your time shift device does not support hardlinks make sure it's formatted in Ext2. or Ext3
[Emo1] operation not permitted

I went through the IDIOTS guide

I went through the IDIOTS guide
but didn't follow it or use your noggin!!! ROFL

The clue is in the error message! make sure it's formatted in Ext2. or Ext3 - to do this you need to initialise the drive in the box, this will format it to ext 3. Once initialised check your mount point hasn't changed and your recording/timeshift paths are correct.

FAT32 is no good for recording as well as causing your timeshift problem it would stop part way through due to the filesize limit.

Thank you a wk of trama sorted in 5mins in my defense my m8 formatted the hdd as my computer is knackered.
Nxt to update to sly3 can I only do this with need of a computer or is it possible to Download by box.
Once again many thanks and I do learn as I go on.

You have to format the drive in NTFS or you wont be able to record HD files properly as they exceed the FAT32 allocation table because of their size. Thats one thing.
In timeshift settings (check the wooshbuild post sticked) make sure that you are choosing right folder - it can not be the root of the HDD - I had the same problem and it had to be hdd/timeshift or something like that , but make sure that the path in settings is properly set. That will solve your problem with timeshift - and reformat it in NTFS
