Right reading through the links I have set the hdmi 1080i
On the tv I have set hdmi audio format to PCM. It was set to bitstream before? - I have no idea what this setting is or what it does, but its been like 10 minutes and all seems ok with the sound, I dont hear chipmunks any more so hopefully fingers crossed very tightly we have cracked it :)
