Twin coax help.

Hi all. Bit of a newbie question i would of thought, just went to my aunties today install her zgemma star s but she has a sly plus hd box which has to coax inputs, obviously i was a bit stumped as the zgemma star s only has one. I tried to just put one input into the star s but didnt get a picture.

1, do i need a twin sat tuner box to receive the pic?

2, why do the sly + hd boxes have 2 inputs?

Thanks all

you only need 2 feeds if your planning on watching 1 channel whilst recording a different channel, 1 feed is sufficient to be able to receive channels

The twin coax was already installed from LNB to the wxsisting sky + Hd box. I tried to just enter one of the inputs to the star s but didnt get a picture? So are you saying that i should of received a picture even though one input wasnt plugged in? If so then i will investigate. Cheers

yes you should have got a feed, did you set your tuner up on the box to 28.2e

Yeah it was all working fine i tested at my house and was perfect, tried at my aunties and no pic. Did a network test , restarted cam etc but no pic, I initially thought it was down to the 2 feeds coming in from the dish so didnt really go any further. Cheers bud.

You need one feed from the dish for each tuner on the box, so if you're box is a single tuner then you only need to connect one feed, it doesn't matter which one you use.

You might need to run a scan on your box once it's connected to the dish.

did you reboot router?
try unplugging router from wall socket and unplug box from wall socket, wait a couple mins and then plug router back in and then when it gets an internet connection plug your box back in
doing that refreshes all connections and then you can rule that out as a problem

also did you try both feeds in the back of the box? or did you just try one of the feeds

did you connect Ethernet into back of box?

Cheers bud will give it a go. I did use plugs as router and box not in same room, i read somewhere that they dont like being plugged into extension lead? Need to go straight into wall socket?? But i had a connection on the box as network test confirmed this, but yes, i will reboot all to rule out, like i say, i initially thought the problem was due to the 2 connections so was very quick not to try the usual trouble shooting bits n pieces, now i know i i just need one of cables from dish into the back of my single sat tuner to get a pic i will go back and test a few bits. Thanks for the help

Make sure there's a picture on the old sly HD for staters. The dish could be out of whack. Or a broken cable. Or a centre core on the coaxial could be bent or broken. Try these couple of things first.

Came across this a few time and found out the LMB on the disk was an old type going back over 10 years.
Once I changed this all worked well.

I did also check with an Amiko box and worked fine so it turned out the ZGemma did not like the old LMB.
Might be worth a look at

Cheers bud, just been back round and had another go at it and got a picture straight away, very strange. Thanks for all the advice guys but looks like it was transient issue.
