Unable to connect H2S to internet.

Hi all hope someone can help.

So I have a H2s running the great Wooshbuild with a good line,no problems for 7 months. Internet via homeplugs.

Earlier I did a cross EPG update and a software update and my pay channels stopped working free to air still work no probs. For some reason my box is now not able to connect to the internet. I have tried pluging it in direct to my BT homehub via an Ethernet cable, after rebooting the homeplugs and trying to resynch them.

I have rebooted both my rooter and my H2s and still no joy. When I reboot the Zgemma the earthnet lights on the back of the box start to flash for a few seconds but then stop flashing, I think myself something in the software updates has upset it and stopped it connecting to the internet?

Is the answer possibly to factory reset the H2s and start again from scratch with a new Wooshbuild flash?

Any Ideas will be gratefully received!!

Thanks.

There haven't been any posts along these lines today that I am aware of, but I could be wrong.

Don't do a factory reset as you will crash your box and will have to flash from scratch or from a backup.

Reflash WooshBuild back to the version on your box.

First thing to do is backup your settings. I am sure you have your line somewhere safe away from the box but just in case. It also backs up your timers. Whats more, if you have WB Config v1.036 or 1.037 you can backup your timers too from within WB Config.

Blue button -> Flash online / Local -> Blue button (local) -> Hopefully you will see WooshBuild-Latest in there. If so, highlight it and press the green button. It will ask you various questions but you want option 2. Flash and restore settings (no plugins)

Once done, see if you have a network connection. If not, go for a clean flash of WooshBuild from USB.

Don't do a factory reset as that really don't end well on these boxes and you have to reflash anyway.
Do you have a backup of your box from before you ran the latest updates?
If yes just reflash that.
If no then make sure you backup your line file then press blue button - flash online/local - blue button for local and see if you have wooshbuild-latest.zip still on your storage device. If you do then select it and press green to start a reflash.
If you don't then you will have to start back at the beginning by using basebuild
As I said before make sure you have your line backed up before you do any flashing.
Also in my opinion its good practise to do a full backup and a settings backup before running any updates for those oops moments

Edit wooshman beat me to it as usual he he :)

Ah thanks, when I get to the Blue button -> Flash online / Local -> Blue button (local) its blank? So I cant select anything?

Which is odd as providing it is the same USB that you used to flash originally I would have thought it would have been there.

Bad news it is a clean flash as you have no internet to do a flash using WB Config. Do a settings backup if you haven't already and again, if he option is in WB Config, backup your timers too.

Download as if starting from fresh, put your line on the USB, remove any other USB and flash BaseBuild and follow the destructions. BUT say no when BaseBuild asks about deleting exiting data.

Once WooshBuild is running, now might be a good time to do the software updates and see if you have internet still. If you do you can restore just your timers (if you could back them up) or you can do your settings. BUT, I don't know if that will bugger your internet again?! One way to find out.

Good luck

Great minds think alike mate, great minds!

Thanks for the help but It seems to be getting more mysterious, I have tried to reflash, 1st using my cruzer stick with original files on it and it wouldnt flash. It worked no probs originally?

I have reformatted it (long fat32 format) downloaded the new version and tried that and it wont flash. I just insert the USB stick in the front (tried both front and back) with the box just turned off with the remote not the switch on the rear and it should come on and flash?

Do I need to delete my 'old' version of the build or anything like that?

Backup doesnt seem to want to backup settings either?

Use willo's guide to prepare a USB stick properly then make sure you have only the zgemma folder in the root of the USB stick. Inside the zgemma folder will be a folder called h3 and inside that 4 or 5 files.
Make sure your line is stored safely as you will need it after flashing.

Thanks for the advice Ill have another go at it hopefully tomorrow when I have got a bit more time. I have been putting the stick in with my line on it as well as the zgemma folder. Is that likely to be the problem stopping it flashing do you think?

I doubt that is causing the issue
Some people have problems with USB sticks (even ones they have previously used) but I have never had any issues and never even bothered to format the stick I use, just deleted what was on it and put the zgemma folder into it

It was mentioned the other day windows has a habit of creating a logical partition instead of a primary one on USB sticks which can cause the stick to not be read by the box when using it to flash, pretty sure the software in willo's guide forces the stick to have a primary partition instead

My box last night stopped working half way through watching something just froze when I checked my line details was not there, weird I thought ,any case unplugging the router did not work,Deep standby did not reset it only unplugging the mains plug sorted it.Worth trying

Thanks for the formatting tips, its worked its flashed the box and im now back connected to the internet, slight hitch now is I cant get it to see my line. When I run the USB cam importer it says no cam files found on any USB device, when I insert the stick it is saying no dipsplayable content found so it is seeing the stick I think?

The line is viewable on the stick via my laptop though?

It all worked no probs originally it must have been beginners luck! Any ideas please?

What line file are you using?
It should either be CCcam.cfg or newcamd.line
It has to be named exactly for the USB importer to work

Its a CCcam.cfg and shows and is named as such when you view the stick, I wondered that about other files on the stick (I had the zgemma file on it) and now only the cam file is on it.

Do I need to unplug my hard drive from the rear? When I insert the stick into the front does the box need to be switched off or on or doesnt it matter ? Does the box need to be on channel 106 or doesnt it matter?

Thanks all!

That's odd, as long as the file is named right the cam importer should work.
You could always ftp the line to the box then go into the softcam panel, select cccam then press green to start it

I still cant flipping get it to start my line I have realized its an "N" line, well it starts with N anyway so does the mean the file on the stick should be called newcamd.list.cfg this is what I have remaned it on my stick?.

I have reformatted the stick again using Bootice as recommended and as far as I can see the file is in the root of the stick (cant see any other files in it) My line provider last night sent me a new copy of my line file name so that should defo be right.
I have tried it again with the CCcam and the newcamd.list names and the box still says no cam files on any usb device . I work on a previous version of wooshbuild as being named as a CCcam file despite me now thinking is an N file.

I am editing my file on my stick using notepad would this be OK do you thinlk?

Your newcamd.list file, try changing the N to CWS = line details and add it to the box and restart mgcam, do not call the folder newcamd.list.cfg

Just add the line in the cams importer file for the wooshbuild and follow the guide, so inside the cccam.cfg file for the wooshbuild when you open it, there will be a newcamd.lsit file, put your new line beginning CWS = Line details and save. Now add via the plugins and restart mgcam, try this and see if it works

Im still trying to do it via the stick and the wooshbuild USB cam importer garyth, Im sorry but I dont really understand what you are suggesting?

So On the USB stick if the line begins with an "N" its an "N" file am I right in thinking this?

If so should the file on the stick be named CCcam.cfg or newcamd.list or does it not matter?

The line code I have just typed it under where it says enter details under this line when you open the file up?

I am leaving my hard drive plugged into the back of the box and just inserting the stick into the front of the box with it turned off via the remote and then turning it back on via remote and then via the green button picking USB cam importer? This then give the error message no cam files on any USB?

I cant see why its not working really TBH?

Thanks for the replys so far!

hi,

if you have filezilla and teamviewer i could take a look for you

the cccam.cfg is used by the cccam softcam
newcamd.list is used by the mgcamd softcam

the N line in cccam.cfg tells cccam to use the newcamd protocol, and C line to use it own propierty protocol

so question is what softcam is your box configured to use
