UPDATE - 1 box won't software update -- Grog Movieorganisor can you help?) Woosh5.03

Had issue recently that can't fix. One box simply wont do the openatv updates.

Solution I found was to restore to a backup from another box I have, and I then change the ip address and mounts to the correct info. The box woudl update.

That evening the box would crash at midnight with messages about movie organisor.
Reboot and all works fine, no more crashes but afterwards the updates wont work again.

Also can't remove the plugin - or any plugin for that matter.

Any suggestions? Or I guess has anyone ever come across anything similar?

Just put the box back to the backup from a few days ago and done todays updates but I know it will crash at midnight. Perhaps remove the plugin and re-add it?

Wonder if its something on the box itself as the other box i have is fine.

I don't get the crash but I have a issue where I can't remove plugins by the standard method of pressing green then red and selecting the plugin
Thanks to wooshman I'm now able to remove plugins by using putty on the PC to remove them.

Download and run putty, put your box IP address in and click connect
Username will be root if default

Once connected to your box type the following

opkg list-installed

and look down the list of everything which is installed. You will see the plugins section. You need to copy the name of the plugin you want to remove.

and then type:

opkg remove --autoremove --force-depends your-full-plugin-name-here

EG:
opkg remove --autoremove --force-depends enigma2-plugin-extensions-enhancedmoviecenter

Again all credit to this goes to wooshman

Cheers DJGARF so the inability to remove plugins is not unique to me so probaly a red herring with the problem I have on that. Jus when i thought I was on to something.

Last night I put the backup back on and then toggled all the settings in movie organiser. Forced it to run and it didn't crash - and at midnight it didn't crash either - this had always happened with the re flashed box so might be on to something.
Just to see if it will do the updates today or not now.

If not then I am lost, only option is to ignore the updates but think they pull the Woosh updates through too so a bit of a pain as woudl need to look out for them and do manually - if its possible to do it on the box or via Putty as you described.

Hate it when you get strange problems like this....

Yea its a weird one
The plugin thing has been annoying me for a bit now and I have no idea what is causing it. At least I can remove them now.
As for the updating issue your having that's puzzling me too, I haven't run software updates for ages now but using the putty method I was able to remove WB config and install the latest version fine.

The movie organisor runs more than just once a day, obviously depending on your settings but could be every 15 minutes upto every few hours, so if it was the plugin that is at fault I would expect the box to crash more often unless there is something else that runs a midnight which then causes the Movie Organisor to crash if they run at the same time.

Cheers, I set it to 3 hours so the first run is typically the midnight one when I am home and woudl notice it. Not getting failed recordings as nothing set up around ten so not noticeable.
Must be something else and a coincidence. Thanks for posting though.

Last night I forced it to run and it was fine. Need to keep digging....

Great addon by the way, very neat.

SOLVED

Finally figured this out so posting in the unlikely off chance that someone else gets this very weird issue.

The issue was something to do with the micro ad card being used to store the time shift, Epg and picons.

This weekend I noticed the pic on was missing off the channel list and realised the micro sd card was not mounted - no idea why. Tried a software update and it worked for the first time.

Tried again today - the sd card was mounted and no updates could be done. Removed sd card and it worked. Not sure why but might help someone else one day.
