Update Image

may1939

Newbie
I'd like to update my image working on the assumption that the newer the image
the better it will be. My image at the moment is Openvix Apollo 37. I wont to flash
with with perhaps one in the high 50s. 1. If I update the image will I loose my line.
2. Having backed up the current image to a USB stick. Can I extract the line from it.

It's easy to tack a copy of your line - are you using CCcam or Mgcamd?

Ok, open up Filezilla and then using the remote for your cloud ibox go to Menu-Information-Network.

You will then see the ip address of the Cloud Ibox.

Now in Filezilla - put that ip address into the box at top which says Host. The username is 'root' and password is left blank

You will now see on the bottom right screen all the files on your Cloud ibox

Check the 'etc' folder and see of there is a file called CCam.cfg (or similar to that name). This will be your line if you're box is using cccam. Click on that file and then 'Right-click' and select download. Choose were you want to save the file.

No luck. After doing what you said I get. Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NODATA - No address associated with nodename".

I haven't seen that before. You are putting the ip address into the filezilla into the box beside host, and typing it exactly as 192.168.x.xx and then typing root in the username box and then 'quick connect'?

Yes. That worked. I found the CCcam.cfg file in the ect folder but when I right clicked it the download option was greyed out
so I clicked view/edit highlighted and copied the line into notepad and created a CCcam.cfg file. So now I have a copy of my line.
I'm hoping now to update my image if it goes wrong at least I have a line.
Thank you for all of your help.

as box is a clone always ask what patched file and bootloader might be needed,it saves pulling hair out lol

plus you have not stated what model it may be,files differ for models.

Hi, My box is a Cloud iBox 2 plus. It has minor but very annoying faults I have no display on the front of the box just 4 dash's
and it goes into standby when I press the power button on the remote but will not restart when I press the same button. I
have to switch off and no again using the switch at the back and then wait for it to boot up. I'm told both could be a problem
with the image. The image I'm using is Openvix Apollo 37. The latest is No. 64 so I assume that between 37 and 64 lots of
bugs have been sorted and improvements made. What do you think should I flash my box with it. ??

The 4 dots is a symptom of using vix modded for these boxs. But small price to pay as imho vix is best. While on original boxs the most up to date can be fine, vix dont do an image for this box so updates can be a bad thing. Ive stuck on vix 041 because it seems safe and stable to me but ive been to busy to update and try newer ones which may be fine. It can take a good while to set up from a raw new image or u can use the software uldate option which will keep everything roughly the same and keep ur line. But be aware it can cause incompatibility issues to.
so whatever you do make a backup!
