Updating the kodi version on my mx pro box

Im trying to update my mx pro kodi version but im not getting anwhere with it...
Im trying to scource kodi in zip file as my box wont update via apk...not sure why but can not find a good step by step guide...says the kernal is linux??

Ive installed kodi on my phone went to play store had the update choice and done it...when i go to play store on my mx pro i dont have the update option??
Help please
