Volvo Immobiliser Problem

Hi, any pearl of wisdom greatly appreciated. 2008 Volvo S40, battery died, recharged fully, when try to start the car, message says 'Immobiliser Try Start Again.' All dash lights work, central locking. Tried spare key, same problem. Any ideas?

also had a 141d v40 d3 in for service and when i went to drive it back in,it said insert key as its a key fob into dash,in out 4 times no difference then it saw the key and started.
modern cars if battery goes below a certain reading may trigger a fault code and needs to be erased on diagnostics.
if battery died maybe it needs a new one and not a recharging?

Thanks. Battery checked and all good, waiting for diagnostics, either needs a software update/reboot or a new ECU - boll*x!
