Vu+ Solo2 1080p Recording.

Hi

I have been trying for a while now to find a way of getting my Vu+ Solo2 to record things in 1080p. Every time I go to check out a recording it is 1080i50 25fps. I had a play about with the system plugin 'auto resolution' and also 'recording settings' but nothing that actually gets is to record my footage in 1080p.


Any help much appreciated!

Ideally - that's record things at 50fps at 1080p resolution. I just want it to record de-interlaced basically..

sky only uses 1080i as a signal for its HD channels, there is no 1080P

WHAT FORMAT WILL SKY'S HDTV SYSTEM USE?
· Sky 's HDTV broadcasting system and HDTV receiver will support two HDTV formats:

- 720 / P / 50 (Progressively Scanned picture)

- 1080 / I / 25 (Interlaced picture)

· Sky believes the progressively scanned picture format is better suited for the delivery and viewing of HD content on large screen, flat panel displays (mostly plasma or LCD) that are increasingly available in electrical and specialist retailers. However, Sky does accept that for some types of programming, the higher screen resolution offered by the 1080 Interlaced format may be preferable.

· Broadcasters planning on launching HD services on the digital satellite platform will be able to choose whether to broadcast content in 720 / P / 50 or 1080 / I / 25.

· Sky's HD service will also utilise the advanced compression technology MPEG4. MPEG4 is a more efficient means of compressing the data in a TV picture.

thats why i tell every one to set to 720p 50hz, if u have the vu like me, u can go 720p 60hx if your tv supports it for better picture to watch

Is it possible to get the Vu+Solo2 to record files in 720p then? It's the actual recordings I want as progressive.

to be honest i dont do a lot of recording on my box, but i dont see nothing about format under recording

i would set the box to 720p and do a test record
 
I just set the output to 720p but the Vu+Solo2 just records as 1080i50 25fps.

You are right about the recording options, there is nothing about recording format etc.

I would have thought it would record exactly what is being broadcast so you wouldn't have any choice in the matter. Happy to be proved wrong though!
