Guessing you are interested in technology and enjoy dabbling with stuff. Were you looking for inspirationI've got a PC that as a run ESXi with 2 x VM's. One runs a handful of Docker containers, Plex, Unifi Controller, Transmission (Bit Torrent Client), Nginx and Jenkins. The other VM runs TrueNAS and I have 4 x 4TB disks attached in RAID10 that I use as my NAS. I've got some other bits and bobs setup. I run a mini PC with 2 x 2.5Gbs NIC's as my router running pfSense
I have a ex work colleague that was into self hosting his own phone stuff. I dabbled with that a bit, but I don't have as much of a need or purpose for it. Guessing you are interested in technology and enjoy dabbling with stuff. Were you looking for inspiration?
What about a 3D printer?Guessing you are interested in technology and enjoy dabbling with stuff. Were you looking for inspiration
ye tech interest me , im just bored with it at moment
when digital came in it was a revolution in pc,s (think it was the 80s ) there was lots to learn and interesting things to do but now it doesnt seem theres alot to do at the moment , nothing new to do
thnx will give it a look see what its likeYou could have a play with Kali Linux - Kali Linux | Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking Linux Distribution
Create a bootable USB from it - USB | Kali Linux Documentation
You can boot the laptop from the USB. No need to install Kali Linux on the laptop. It can run off the USB.
Kali Linux is an Operating System with a load of security tools on it. I enjoyed learning how they work - i.e I thought it would be cool to see if I could get into some of my neighbours WiFi connection 🙈. You can do a lot of cool things with it. If you run it from a USB, then just remove it and it will boot back into whatever OS you have installed on your hard drive.
are they and the spool stuff not a bit deer ?What about a 3D printer?
Guy near me makes stuff and sells it on eBay

Yes perhaps years back they did have serial ports, even on my desktop a while back had to buy 9 port serial port card to reflash firmware old stb cannot even now remember what type it was think it was old original openbox , I had tried usb to serial port adapters but none would work. Just like older pc's when they did come with old 9 pin serial port and parallel port connectors when some of use would be programming cards 😆Laptop was a necessity back in the day - connecting our null modems to our cable boxes to flash them with the latest codes, also for modding xboxes, but now it's just general scrolling around, and the odd bit of video editing from drone footage.
I used to edit a website, but the necessity for it dropped away.
I'd like some inspiration too.
As for the 3D printing, I think on this side of the Irish Sea it's quite expensive, in the UK, due to its size, retailers can buy wholesale cheaper and as a consequence offer a cheaper product to the end consumers.
