Which Router Would You Recommend For The Home?

My router is about 10 years old and is giving problems with internet dropouts and losing wireless.
I've read that ASUS routers are among the best.
Which router would you recommend that I can purchase with the model number please?
The router HAS to have a DSL port.
I presume the UK and Ireland ones work the same.

Would they be compatible?

I bought the Netgear Orbi mesh,unbelievable range and speed.
Im on VM broadband and get around 480mbps everywhere in the house.....I pay for the 500mbps package.

Asus DSL- AC68U

Asus - AC68U - can be flashed with merlin firmware

but both do the same features

how easy is the ASUS RT-AC86U to set up ?
im getting one of these delivered this week and im not to clever when it comes to networking etc.

the set up at the moment is that we have a virgin superhub 2ac.
is it just a case of puting the virgin router into modem mode and connecting the ASUS router with an ethernet cable
then launch the web page to set up password etc then off we go ?..
or are there other firmware etc that i should load on to the new router
