Xiaomi tv box can’t open Google play store

Bought a Xiaomi TV box S 4K Ultra HD 3rd generation as my firestick was in permanent boot cycle,
however I can’t open Google play store on it. I’ve tried search, voice search,
no results come back. I’ve been into Settings, Apps, all Apps, System apps
and tried opening Google Play Store from there, nothing.
I’m out of ideas now and would welcome any suggestions.

Any box updates to do ?

Also if your running a VPN turn it off.

Thanks mate. Was logged into Google, but had VPN on, and 1.1Gb update of android needed to be downloaded.
Works OK now.

@SB. I’ve been trying to get various apps from Google play store. VLC is ok, but can’t get any file managers or
File transfer apps. If you manage it, can you tell me how you did it. Downloader is pre installed, maybe that’s the way.

When I said I had downloader on the box, that’s because in the apps section there’s a row of apps displayed titled “apps from my other devices” which shows downloader and televiso.Clicked on televiso to try it and it installed when I set up the box. I’ve now clicked on downloader and it doesn’t. So no play store tools, no downloader.
@silverback: has yours arrived? Any joy loading apps?

Yep set it up yesterday everything installed ok,only problem is i have paid Projectivity launcher but it does not recognise that it's premium.
Throws up some error about wifi or something,will need to have a look again as it's all ok on the shield and chromecast i have.
Don't think i have tried iplayer yet.

Fixed it,when i went into Playstore i was logged in but google needed a few updates.
Once it was updated Projectivity was premium.
