ROME - Harsh blow from the Guardia di Finanza to the online television piracy business. Over 100 military personnel of the Special Unit for the Protection of Privacy and Technological Fraud are engaged in a vast operation against the most important international underground organization which is the creator and principal architect of the widespread illegal Internet broadcasting of pay-TV broadcasters, the so-called IPTV (Internet Protocol Television).
The well-known Xtream Codes computer platform was seized and obscured with over 700 thousand online users blocked from viewing; 25 managers identified.
Eight European investigative orders against a transnational criminal association issued by the Naples Public Prosecutor and carried out simultaneously in the Netherlands, France, Greece, Germany and Bulgaria, with numerous searches in progress in Italy and abroad to dismantle the power plants of the network and attack the relevant illicit proceeds.
