Zgemma H9 2s not booting

I have just got a second hand Zgemma H9 2s.
When I turn the Zgemma on I the
OpenATV 7.5.1 shows on tv screen then when the loading ring spins in the top left corner of the screen. The tv screen goes blank and displays no signal.
My Question is to reflash the Zgemma do I put the Zgemma H9 2s image on USB stick
As the Zip file, or do I unzip the files from the zipped image onto a USB stick.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Before you start:
  1. Download Firmware: Get the latest image for your H9.2S from a reliable source (like OpenViX or OpenPLi), ensuring you download both the recovery_emmc.zip and the main image file (e.g., enigma2.zip).
  2. Prepare USB Stick: Use a small USB stick (4GB or 8GB is ideal) and format it as FAT32 (MBR partition table).
  3. Create Folder: On the USB stick, create a folder named h9.
  4. Copy Files: Place the downloaded recovery_emmc.zip, fastboot.bin, bootargs.bin, and your main image .zip file (e.g., enigma2.zip) into the h9 folder.
  5. Check for noforce: If a noforce file is present in the h9 folder, rename it to force.

Flashing Steps:
  1. Power Off: Switch off the Zgemma H9.2S at the rear rocker switch.
  2. Insert USB: Plug the prepared USB stick into a USB port (using the white USB 2.0 port is sometimes recommended).
  3. Initiate Flash: Press and hold the small black Reset button on the back of the box, then press the white Power button.
  4. Wait for Flash: Release the Reset button once you see the LED flashing (alternating white/red) or the display shows the logo/flashing text.
  5. Do Not Interrupt: Wait patiently (1-2 minutes) for the flashing to complete; do not power off the box.
  6. Restart: Once done, the box will restart. Remove the USB stick and select the desired slot (e.g., Slot 1) to boot into your new image.

Thank you Moshibeth and Ferret for your replies.

In your post Moshibeth you put.

Prepare USB Stick: Use a small USB stick (4GB or 8GB is ideal) and format it as FAT32 (MBR partition table).

I have formatted a USB stick fat 32 then put images on in zipped and unzipped files.(This is reading various ways to flash Zgemma H9 2s) some say hold reset button in other say hold ok on remote. I have tried both still unsuccessful.

The other bit from Moshibeth's post
FAT32 (MBR partition table) is this something I need to do.
Thanks again bob

I tend to only use SanDisk flash drives they work better than any other brand I've found over the years and I have done hundreds of boxes.

Do I just format a USB stick to FAT 32 then copy file to USB or do I need to also do MBR partition table.

I always use HDD guru and do a low level format first then fat 32 . Transfer files away you go. Loads of videos on YouTube too.

I formatted a old 4gb USB to fat 32.
Extracted from openpli-9.1-release-h9-20251206_usb.zip to formatted USB stick powered the Zgemma H9 2s on holding the reset button, all's well.

Thanks again for all your help.

Just a note the Zgemma H9 2s works with my stab hh 100 motor unlike the Zgemma star H1 in my posts Zgemma star H1 Question in the Zgemma star H1 section.

Good tip keep a usb mounted in the box all the time and store EPG to that as well.

Hi
I am trying to flash another image on a Zgemma H9 S2.

My question is I seen somewhere if there is a file in the H9 folder called noforce then rename it to force.
Is this name change needed for image to flash.

Thanks bob

Fool me, I knew I seen it somewhere, in an earlier post.

Some images dont even include the noforce/force file now.

If it there ill rename to force.

I have not been able to flash openvix or openATV images both have the noforce file in the H9 folder ( I have renamed the file in both images) Each image does not start flashing.
Openpli image flashes no bother.
The openpli image does not have any file named noforce or force.

I have been changing the noforce to force on a window laptop should that be ok.

Thanks bob

Try another USB stick the smaller the capacity the better.

Changing the file name as you have is fine but im thinking the H9 does not like your USB stick. They can be very fussy.
