Hello,

I think it would depend on the size of the breed. I know a friend of mine whose bitch has recently given birth to 4 husky pups, their vet stated she should start taking calcium supplements 10 days before the due date (3 600mg calcium tabs), then after birth, 1 tablet per 2 pups.

You need to give the bitch them because milk production is number one priority, not the blood stream, low calcium levels can cause Eclampsia.

Hope this helps, good luck!
