Bridging a Virgin Media Super Hub with a Belking N1 (or access point)

Hello,

My router/modem (superhub) is on my middle floor which is the second floor, which is also the center point of the house.

I need an ethernet connection downstairs and I don't want to buy a mile long cable.

So I was wondering is there anything I can do with my Superhub and Belkin N1?

Can I put the Belkin N1 downstairs and somehow grab the wireless connection from the Superhub?

I know about bridging, but there is no bridge function with Superhub or N1.

Please help.

Thanks

Ontap's suggestion is spot on.

I use homeplugs as my router is in kitchen, and sat box in lounge. I have TP Link Nano which are 500mbps. They should do the job nicely and are about £25 from various outlets. You'll also find they offer are more reliable connection than wifi, and speed will be better than wifi too.

Just a thought if you use homeplugs on 2 floors they will be on 2 separate fuses each floor being on a separate fuse due to the way a ring main works, will the signal be seen over 2 fuses? would be interested if anyone knows.

if the Belkin router is DDWRT enabled then you can create a wireless bridge from the Belkin to the SH - saves running cables or homeplugs. A repeater bridge will connect 2 subnets over wireless.
