Cable user - which box?

Hi I am a newbie. I have VM currently and am looking to use a DM500C or similar. What other options do I have under £100? Will I have to subscribe to a CCcam service?

You only have two options with cable and they are both over £100

Kryptview A780 Std Definition box. approx £150

Kryptview A850 HD box Approx £250

No subs with cable boxes but you will need broadband.

Satelite boxes seem better value these days, could you put up a dish
or even hook up to an old existing sky dish ? There are subs with sat boxes.

That sounds like very good advice. The marketing suggests that the DM500C is good for cable. Does it work? Also what about the Starview 7 box?
I'm sure that I could source a Sky dish, but the installation and the additional cabling (happy to run it myself) just adds to the cost. Would I need to also have a Sky subscription? As I have said, I am currently on VM for TV and broadband.

The only cable boxes working are the ones I mentioned.

You could get skybox F5 approx £50, Reel of coax approx £15, Zone 2 skydish approx £25

Then cancel your tv package with virmin and use the saving
to pay for your subs. :whistling:

You pay a server, not sky. Thats what alot of people I know have done
as their broadband is pretty good.

Thanks Bees. Is there a best / most reliable / cost effective server provider? How would I know if I am paying good money to someone who will provide a rubbish service?

You can get test lines, you may try a few different ones until your happy with the service,
then extend your line for a month, 3 months at a time etc.

You can post a request in here

Zone 1 covers most of the UK without
any problems, Zone 2 is a bit bigger
and will definatly work anywhere in the UK.

Price difference is next to nothing, thats why I suggested Zone 2
