Coleman and Clark in Irish squad

Seamus Coleman and Ciaran Clark could be in line for their first appearances for the Republic of Ireland after Giovanni Trapattoni named them in a 29-man provisional squad for Carling Nations Cup cup game with Wales on 8 February.


Anthony Stokes and Jon Walters have also made the squad, with Trapattoni naming seven strikers in the panel.


Leon Best returns after injury while Kevin Kilbane also keeps his place despite dropping to League 1 in England after a loan move to Huddersfield Town.



Ireland boss Trapattoni said: 'I am looking forward to the opening game of the Carling Nations Cup against Wales.
'This competition provides our players with familiar and tough opponents and the added competitive edge to the tournament is the perfect preparation for our EURO qualifying campaign.'


Republic of Ireland squad to play Wales on 8 February in the Carling Nations Cup in the Aviva stadium, kick-off 7:45pm:
