Thanks all, I'll give it a go with a few tests will go with the method RavingLoony mentioned and see how I get on.
Out of interest, would I be missing out on anything other than speed and a hard-wired option if I used IPTV through a fire stick as opposed to a dedicated box?
On the firestick go to Search and search for Downloader - the icon is an orange pointing downwards, download and install that.
Then open Downloader and go to the following URL -
https://en.aptoide.com/thank-you?app_id=37560314&store_name=mr-robot
Download and install that. Open it. It will take you to a page similar to GooglePlaystore and offer to download etbemu-pro. Download and install. Don't open it.
You might get a screen pop up going on about Java - ok it.
[You might also get a pop up going on about installing\downloading 3rd apps is disabled and give you 2 options. OK and Settings. Select Settings and enable the 3rd party thing. OK it. You might need to press the back button on the remote to go back to the screen prior to the pop up.]
Then go to Settings, Apps and installed apps. Find Aptoide and uninstall it. Then go to settings and About. Get your MAC address. Make a note of it.
Then go back to Settings, Apps, installed Apps and find stbemu - open it.
The initial screen - Configure it.
Profiles - highlight the profile with the jibberish name and click OK. Takes you to the Profiles settings menu. Click OK on the Profile name and change it to something like
iptv
then OK.
Down to STB config, into STB Model & check Mag 250 is ticked. Press Back button remote.
Come down to Mac Address - ok on that and type in the MAC address that you made a note of before [from Settings, About]. OK it.
Press Back button remote. Go into Portal Settings. Click on Portal URL and type in the URL from your provider. Highlight OK and click OK.
Press Back button on remote. Back again to the single profile. You should be at the main settings menu - with Common Settings at the top. Go into Profiles again and your profile should be correct;y named now.
Press back until you are at the blue screen that says something about a wiki. Press the settings button on the remote - 3 horizontal lines. Down to Aspect Ratio - select Auto. Press settings button on remote again, down to Profile, highlight your profile (called iptv or whatever you set it to) and click OK (the centre round button on the remote) and the round circle next to the name should go green.
At this point stbemu should connect and you might get a horizontal bar saying loading portal and it should fire up.
Note: at some point it might take you back to downloader and offer to download something and install it. Click done as it's just a leftover from downloading the actual stbemu file.
Hope the above helps someone.
