Freezing weather advice

How do people dress for the baltic weather we get in winter,frozen feet with heat going out through your head and chapped dry frozen hands? Years ago i was lucky and got warm socks and feet were warm in my boots in the snow but as time goes by a big hole in the heals so needed new socks.
I was lucky as i was in Woodies at the time and seen them so i bought them,needing new socks i dropped in again but sadly not doing them.
Another twist of fate dropping into Chadwicks to get my plastic pipe for my dropping chair behold a heatholders basket with new items,short and long socks and beanies so i stocked up for later.

this is your Mrs fault, if she wasn't so idle and she cut your toenails a bit more often the socks wouldn't have holes in them.
