Man dies after stabbing in Swords

A 20-year-old man has died after being stabbed during a row in Swords, Co Dublin, last night.

It is understood the stabbing happened after a fight broke out involving a number of people on St Cronan's Avenue off Rathbeale Road in Swords.

Gardaí were called to the scene at around 9.30pm.

The victim was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and gardaí say that inquiries are ongoing.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

A post mortem examination will be carried out later today.

it sure is Gman, a man has handed himself into Swords Garda station in relation to this. a lot stiffer sentences are needed for knife crime.

James Joyce was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His girlfriend, who is expecting a baby in October, was with him at the time of the stabbing.

Gardaí say that enquiries are ongoing.
