New hdd errors

Hi all, I'm still pretty new to all of this so forgive what may be an obviosu question.

My box came with a 32gb drive and I have treated myself to a samsung 128gb flash drive for more recordings.

I tried to initialize it but it comes up with a couple of error messages.

" Creating Hardlink to Timeshift file failed!
The filesystem on your timeshift device does not support hardlinks
Make sure it is formatted in EXT2 or EXT3!"

and

" Initialising storage device
Error -unmount - can't unmount / media/hdd Device or resource busy"

Not sure what I am doing wrong - advice welcome.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Format it first on a PC then place back in receiver, reboot and reinitialise.

Have you got a swap file running and it's set up on the new drive, you will have programmed the box to create one, now you haven't got the file on the new drive but it may make it busy because the box is looking for it,
The long and the short of it is that make sure nothing is using the drive

I'm assuming your using openatv but if not the settings will be located differently on your box
Plug the new drive in the front USB leaving the old one in the back, initialise it, shut down the box, swap the drives so the new one is in the back, restart the box, make sure its mounted as HDD, create the swap file, download the EPG and your done

To initialise the drive its menu - setup - system - storage devices - initialisation
To check its mounted as HDD its menu - info panel - plugins - mount manager
To create the swap file its menu - info panel - plugins - swap manager
