Picture freezing when recording two channels

Hello all,

Running Vix 4.2.026 using mgcamd 1.38 on cable, when just watching or recording one channel everything works great but as soon as I record another channel the video & audio starts to break up.

Things I have tried to slove this so far:

1. Flash with 4.2.026 and started from scratch

2. Downgraded to 4.2.014

3. Changed coax cable to box

4. Changed splitter

5. Replaced hard disk drive

7. Replaced both tuners with Genuine VU+ tuner

8. Tried OpenATV 0.53

I have ran out of things to try so am open to suggestions.

Thanks

ask an expert? lol

first of all are you using good quality cables and connections as crap ones cause issues, next is what signal are you getting check in service searching and below signal finder will tell your strength of signal.

Made my own cables, using coax from screwfix.

The cable I have installed on the outside of my house is 20 meters long so I tried a short cable (5 meters) but it was still the same.

Signal on BBC One HD - SNR - 99% AGC - 94%

Signal on Discovery HD - SNR - 99% AGC - 93%

what make spliter ?
have you tested oscam ?

and best tuner for box are samsung from vu+
the old ones cause problems

Yes tried OScam and it is still the same.

The original tuners that came with the box are samsung.

To eliminate the tuners I purchased this: [h=1]VU+ Hybrid Dual/Twin 2 x DVB-C/T2 Tuner[/h]Would post the link but I dont have 5 posts yet.

2 tuners in one card but the problem still persists.

and what make splitter

have you looked in box out side to see if anything in there
and white one in the house

Does it happen on FTA channels or just encrypted ones? Try a different line or even CCAM to see if that makes a difference

are you sure on those signal results as to me they look like sat signals,if cable is that i think too strong a signal,if you have sat check above tuner says dvb/c or dvb/s.
maybe others can say what cable signal level they have.

I have no white box in my house.

Ok so checked brown box outside and it just has a f connector joiner in there connecting the cable from the exchange to the coax attached to my house.

Not it does not happen on FTA, I have tried OScam, MGcamd & CCcam all of them starting breaking up or I get pixilation when using two tuners.

I have tried another line and its still the same.

Here is what the OScam log looks like when recording one channel & viewing another.

Really strange as it will only do this on certain channels (e.g BBC TWO HD & Channel 5 HD) but works faultlessly on other channels.

Would this work for attenuating the signal:

Variable Aerial Attenuator | Maplin

I know it has coaxial (aerial) connectors but it states the it's frequency range is 5-1000MHz which I think is correct for cable TV.

Can you use an attenuator that has a frequency range of 5-2400Mhz or is that a bad idea?

splitters to use would be 5-1000mhz and better if one could use f connector type as more chance of a tight connection.to me those readings are way out so need someone else to check their vm signal also.sat signal finder.jpg

that is what my sat says notice the top line stating what tuner it is reading.

The splitter I am using is 5-1000mhz.

Going to be impossible for me to check the signal strength as I dont know anyone with VM cable.

Would they also need the same box?

I thought the signal strength readings on your box were to be taken with a pinch of salt as they are not accurate and vary alot from box to box?

Also would the signal strength effect the cam as this problem does not occur with FTA channels, which means the problem is related to the cam in some way?

i asked bees with a pm to check out his signal levels and to look at this thread and comment, using a xtrend et 10000 over here and solo2 on sat hence the readings.
do you only have cable tuners or sat also?
you have vm cable and should have seen same results on the signal finder page.
type in box ip into web browser and connect to box and screengrab page and save image and download, you can then upload to post.
