I know some brake pipes and brake nipples can be stubborn to remove and ive done hundreds over the years etc.
What part of the caliper is actually broke and did they show you the part etc.
If the male brake union has snapped inside the caliper and can be repaired but most garages wont go to them lengths and will simply fit a whole new unit etc but sadly its classed as unforseen repair and the owner will have to pay etc.
But if mechanic has been swinging a hammer at it i would be very reluctant to pay for a replacement.
I can't get back to the garage to see how bad or why it happened to both. Can you tell me how hard or easy it is to brake a calliper while removing the brake pipesI know some brake pipes and brake nipples can be stubborn to remove and ive done hundreds over the years etc.

The brake pipes failed m o t the callipers and pads were fineYou do as it will be part of the repairs really.

very easy, a number of thing could cause it but as above if pipe breaks in calipre (maybe due to rust) not alot he could have done .
one of these thing im afraid you either try to remove it ( calipre) or you dont , u take your chances,
thing is if he didnt try to open it it wont pass mot
I thought it would've been straightforward for him as he replaced calipers 18 months agoYour only giving half the story, flexy rubber pipes or metal pipes on uk vehicles rust is very common and if the bleed screw or union has damaged the threads.Brake caliper replacements are very common on todays cars .
After fitting either the air needs to be extracted by opening the bleed screw.
Yeah ill be asking to see the calipers tomorrow. Seems iffy as he done them last timeThe same calipers they want to replace again hmm.
i would have thought easy also, but uk cars and rust or overtightning?
I'm going to ask to see the calipers tomorrow and hopefully it's just one of those things but he managed to brake bothif the calipers are alloy and the pipe screw was overtightened and broke the fitting then i would say its down to him but if it broke taken pipe off the its one of these thing im afraid
