Satellite or IPTV

Hey Guys,

I am moving house next year and cable isn't available so I will be looking into either getting a dish setup or IPTV. Just wanted to ask what peoples thoughts are on which is better?

I know obv Sly sports is off on Sat but is there anything else missing? IPTV in the past for me has been too glitchy and annoying prob down to a poor provider and I only tried one and ditched it.

Be good to find out peoples views might even just go for both Sat and IPTV.

as long as you have decent internet speed, IPTV all day long. Sat can't come close to it these days.

Most people use the sat tuners for the free to air channels and IPTV for everything else

Yeah I most definetly believe it was down to a poor provider. My line provider for cable does IPTV aswell and his line is faultless so I will probably go for IPTV with him then. Cheers for the advice.

Just because his Cable line is good, it doesn't mean his IPTV line will be. The different bandwidth requirements for IPTV as opposed to just sharing card encryption keys is huge.
My cable guy was faultless for years but his IPTV was rubbish

I can say my sat line provider and his iptv has been spot on had little hiccups but that's part of iptv but steady now

Baz do you use a STB for IPTV and Sat line running along side each other? This is what I would prefer to do I think.

E2 box will do just that with the right setup, can usually put Freesat in 1 bouquet and then IPTV for the rest

I use jedi mate on an edison os mini box mate I know some boxes have stalker plugin which is like stb emu but don't know if links into epg like jedi does

E2 box with sat tuner for free to air

It would be fair to say most of us don't go through the hassle for motorised dish setup but I'm sure those that use it will prefer over IPTV?

I think a dish set up is nearly essential, I use iptv on three TV's and my iptv is pretty reliable but there can be down time, so wouldn't want to rely on it!!
Or Ariel!!

Cant really compare sat to iptv as sat has lost a lot of channels, but if you mean Eurosat then thats a different matter altogether, iptv does not even come close to watching sport on Eurosat channels, number 1 the picture quality on Sat is far far better and number 2 there is no time delay with sat, only downside with football on sat is no english commentary, but that does not bother most people, although Viasat Sport Premium on 1w has recently had PL games that were being shown on BT Sports with the same commentary from BT. I know iptv has improved a lot over the last year or two, and recently I asked for a few tests on here, 1st one I tried using xtream editor wrecked my box, I had to re flash and set all the Euro sats back up again, so I will probaly not bother trying again , at least with using xtream editor, possibly try a different plug in sometime, but for me Eurosat and cable are way ahead of iptv all day long.

You will learn over time not to have all eggs in one basket as i added another 80 or 90 cm dish and added multi lnbs for 13 and 19.2 and still got my octo on 28.2.With good sat boxes one can have many extras running Netflix, Plex and other things and Iptv.
Backup if Iptv goes off then the box still has sat to view and hopefully you are not living in a forest with no line of sight.

Go for a satellite system with an iptv sub as a second option every time,You can get a lot of the premium programs via satellite with a little code for the box so will not just be free sat (y)(y)
