adding sat feed to existing cable setup

so the property i've moved into has both virgin and satellite live feeds.
i've moved my existing H2H to the new property and connected it to virgin - all ok still works as it did before.

so i thought about connecting up the sat feed to the box as well - well it's there so i might as well connect it.
i think the only thing that the sat feed would give me that i can't get on cable would be BT sports in SD, there isn't any other channel available on sat that i can't already get on cable?

so if i did connect it up, what would i need to adjust settings wise to add the sat channels - without it messing up the channel numberings for the existing cable channels?

setup your sat tuner area config then setup your sat feed in ABM, lastly add the sat epg within EPGimporter & then run a scan: you will have extra bouquets for your sat feed which I don't mind having although many like just one set of bouquets & therefore use dsayers2014 custom mix for bouquets

ah, but can you tell epg importer to only add for sat channels? beause i don't use epg importer for the cable ones, i use the live virgin epg feed for those.
i don't want epg importer to screw up those.

i don't mind having extra bouquets with the sat channels, but i don't want them messing with the channel numbers...ie 101 needs to still point to the cable channel, not the sat channel.

Yes you can in the settings

can only say the way I do it, I use ABM & epgimporter, priority I set to sat,vm,iptv with provider markers, I don't use numbering as it annoys me. Yes you can select sat only in the setup menu so it shouldn't interfere with your VM side but I haven't tried the numbering so not sure on which channel feed will be picked up as 101 for example

Sat epg can be absorbed the same way as virgin now.

Edit I'm not sure if openatv have the same option if not maybe crossepg

You just enable sky UK in ABM providers then set providers order and check virgin uk is on top. Virgin will start at 101 then sat bouquets will start with 4 digits

once i've got the cable extended (it's a bit short right now), i'll connect it up and see what happens.

Was pushed to ATV too.

Almost all of the channels on Cable are encrypted. Better to use the Mix file that DaveSayer maintains to swap them out. Cable bouquet numbering will still be the same.

If you could run a new cable it would be better, btw it's not Q services prior to you moving in?
Best checking lnb or it won't work.....hybrid lnb required it were Q

nah it's an old dish with an old LNB.
it's only about 6 feet too short, i'll get a cable joiner and extend it a little.

finally got the cables and wired it up.
strange goings on..... a manual scan only brings up about 60 channels.
and an ABM scan says tuner failed.

you got bbc1 hd? what's the SNR on the channel, should be 100% or close to it, if way below then dish needs aligned
also you have done single sat scan on 28.2 yeah

manual scan > tuner A > single sat > 28.2E
looks like it's all the asian and obscure channels it's finding (and the Disney channels).
69 channels found

Stick up a photo of lnb?

this is the LNB on *this* dish.

i say *this* dish as this is the dish on the side of the house where the cables i connected up come into the house.

however, there is another dish on the rear of the house with no cabling entering the house that has a really old quad LNB. god knows why it ended up with two dishes.
if this one i am trying to connect up turns out to be a Q LNB then i'll need to wait until we are back to normal and get someone out to swap over the LNBs.

that's fine, i'll arrange to have the LNB swapped over from the old dish at some point once restrictions are lowered.
and probably arrange to get the old rusty dish removed at the same time.

Thinking that might be a newer sky q setup and not sure looking at it the white dome is not as wide
Are both dishs facing the same direction.

Looks like a sky q l.n.b
Might have been poor line off sight with the
Old dish or the sky installer couldn't be bothered taking it down
