Cabling for Cable (Virmin) query - Calling Techies!

Good Evening All,

Sorry this is a bit long! I posted a couple of months ago asking if a cab on the street is VM as I was moving into a new build and we wasn't sure if it was VM or not. Good News is it was, it did take a phone call to the local new build area manager for the midlands to get it turned on and recognised though!

So fast forward to us being moved in its a 3 storey townhouse, we were installed 2 weeks ago. Prior to install i asked customer relations about working from height etc, i got some live chat person in india who told me they will do whatever is required.. the usual response. Engineer arrived and was happy to install my modem on the 3rd floor until i said sorry you cannot drill inside out, it has to be outside in due to external render we have on the property. As it has a year for defects we cant just have people drilling and popping the outside render. Engineer called his boss, and the only option would be drilling inside out, but now we had to sign to say if he damaged the render VM would not be responsible. needless to say we didn't, and told him to install the modem down stairs with the TV (drilled through brick no render). Have to say the engineer did a great job. Speeds are ok on the top floor but i am possibly going to be pc gaming again soon so need hardline. Powerline adapters are not the best

I've been trying to work out how to run cabling that looks tidy and moving the modem upstairs to the 3rd floor. Unfortunately the design of the house would mean multiple crossing over on the ceiling etc - Cant do it under carpets as it would require them all being stretched back out., I've thought about asking VM for a second TV into the top room but getting them to drill through on the second floor (outside in) and then getting them to run cabling, again it still wouldn't be perfect.

Im not very techy on cabling So first thought was - I have 4 Phone sockets in the house - Master Socket at front door, Slave in front room, Slave in middle double bedroom, Slave in top floor bedroom. Slaves are connected and then feed into the master - Wondered if i could disconnect from master and use them, wire in another pair on each and mirror on a cat5 to get it upstairs. Mate said wont work...

I had almost given up and was about to ask virgin to install a second TV and run unsightly cabling from downstairs to the top floor, when i remember VM cable is COAX. This leads me onto my latest idea, and im hoping this can work, hense why im here now.

In this house I have 3 Aerial Points - 1 in front room, 1 in middle floor bedroom and 1 in top bedroom. Wiring is connected and runs up to the loft, only thing i needed to do was get an aerial installed. So what i was thinking is, disconnecting the modem from the splitter in the front room. Running coax from the splitter into the aerial input in the front room (sending it up to the loft) Then connecting the coax in the loft joining the front room and top bedroom cables and then plugging the modem into the aerial input. Could this work?

Why cant new builds have cable runs you can just run cables up!

If you have made it this far, i appreciate you taking the time to read this!

if you join the cable from the front room to the top floor bedroom in the loft it should work,it basically becomes a long cable from the bottom floor to the top.

What I thought and hoped. I suppose I just need to add 2 male connections either side and a female to female to connect them! Or would F connectors be better

Have possibly got a flaw in my plan. Just stuck head up in loft and can only see 2 cables coming up! And there’s 3 aerial points. Could the front room have been spliced into the middle floor on its way up? If it has would that be done midway through the cable or at the back of the plate?

all you can do is join the cable and try it,if it does not work you can just put them back the way they were, so buy 4 male connectors and 2 female to female,
