Satellite dish size

How did you get on @urie ?

Im looking at putting a dish back up too. Not sure if there any advantages to a motor rather than just using freesat. I have IPTV anyway so this is purely just a backup.

Motorised satellite dish Would be a good
Investment as a back up to iptv With large
enough satellite dish you could pick up most

I still have not put up the dish having second thoughts due to the size 97cm all others near me are the small oval sky dishes.

And council rules say nothing over 1 mtr length onto building 1 mtr dishes are permiter but because of fixing bracket size with it being motorised and needing to go from east to west I think it will be more than a meter in length.
Got all the gear to put it up satellite meter, level, digital protractor.
Theres even a satellite guy lives in my area said roughly £100 to put up and align the dish. He said he has done a few meter dishes in our area might just get him round, when availabe due to covid rules.

There is not much difference in size between the 1meter and the 1.1 meter
Satellite dish Can't see the council coming
Out with a measuring tape The 97 cm satellite dish Would pick up most of the
Popular transponders I

This is a really interesting post for me as like the original poster, im looking at jumping on the mororised dish wagon and looking for some help on the amount of english speaking out there, and if, after scanning the skys, any of you have actually cancelled subscriptions due to the fact you can get your films sport elsewhere... Im in east london, and so far with the help of some guys on here ive been recommended a start up kit of..... " vu+ uno 4k se, and a 1m dish technomate dish pack with motor, dish, and cable, bracket all for about £115.00. not including receiver" Do you agree this is a good choice to get underway? Linesman on here really seems to know his stuff....

Cheers!

@jimbo350 , that is probaple the pack with the 97cm dish from World of satellite yes good value for money comes with everything you need bracket , cable ,F connector, clips, coach screws and plugs , dish and motor and lnb.
Not to sure about coach screws I bought rawlbolt type instead.
please note they do add on quite a bit for postage.

subscriptions went out the window years ago. motorised is the way forward in my opinion. loads of channels, feeds etc

With the starter kit it likely is a 90° 36cm
50cm L bracket Instead of T.k set Complete
Different methods of installation If you are
Fitting L bracket to brick wall The wall.will
Not be level running down Its easy enough
Getting the bracket 90° left to right The problem is getting the bracket level to the
Front You might be better using 10mm plugs 13mm coach screws to give better
adjustments If you run the spirit level down
The wall you will see how much the bracket
Will need built out to get it level to the Front
What I would do get the bracket 90° left to right A digital leveler is a good Investment
Then put the leveler on the front of the bracket before you tighten the bottom coach screws dill another hole plug coach
Screw washer Just below the middle of the
Bracket at the bottom Then tighten the coach Screw and fit the washer underneath
The bracket Then fit washers either side
Tighten the bracket up Until it is 90 ° to the
Front and side

Most bricklayers these days seem they have used a catapult to lay bricks and need a new bubble for there level

Thanks you. So you agree the vu+ uno 4k se would be the one to go for as my first motorised receiver... only other advice has been from pulsat mentioning that the technisat tecnistar s6 can accept official cams so that if I wanted to go down the various subscription packages in the future, it would work with all cams? Anyone else have comments on this, and do we know if the tecnistar is able to accept Mgccam, ccam or oscam as I know the vu+ does if I want to add a euro line in the future? Just want my first receiver to keep all my options open, and be straight forward to use.

Thanks!

The Vu uno 4k also has a cam slot for official cams and a card slot. I mentioned this receiver in an earlier thread as a receiver that is top of the range. You can spend more if you wish or you can spend a lot less. I'm sure not many would say that is not a good receiver but it does cost. If you want to spend less just tell people a budget you have and they will mention other receivers that are cheaper. The dish pack as urie guess was the pack from world of sat. You just need to work out what tuners config you want like 2 x satellite or just single.

Update i have just had a look in the openatv download section and i dont see a image for a technisat tecnistar s6

Thanks kegnkiwi. Id want it set up just with a single satellite input. Good to know that the receiver can accept the genuine cams and cards if needed. Assume that when i buy it new from world of sat the softcams, and extra bits that need to be installed to allow eurolines will not be present...Have to look on this site and find a pre built build to put onto it?

Thamks.

@jimbo350
I just have a fixed dish with 13 19 & 28 on it,
loads of sport, I mainly watch bike racing so commentary in English isnt so important,
in fact, watching bike racing in Spanish , when it was on Movistar, was quite a revelation, the Spaniards get so excited about the smallest thing :ROFLMAO:

Actually, if you purchase from wos the first drop-down box is what firmware do you want installing. So for a £1 then will put on it any image you wish. Its really down to choice. Lots of people like openvix images. I personally don't like those images and like either openatv or pure2. My image of choice is pure2 at the moment. Below is a screen grab of what it looks like

Great. Currently out of stock, ill order one and initially get the latest vix for a quid put on. Will this image have all the softcams options pre loaded mgcam, ccam, oscam? And the epg add ons etc. Basically ill be good to go when it arrives..../ Sure ill be back to pick the forums brains again once it arrives.

Take care and thanks for the advice so far!

No you will get a receiver with the basic vix image on it. You will then need to start adding what you want. By pushing menu then choosing plugins it will let you into the section that allows you to download such things as softcams and channel lists which are called settings. Maybe a google search of setting up an enigma 2 image is a good start. There are a few things you will need to learn before you get going. If you have not had a enigma 2 satellite box before it can be daunting. I would deffo have a read around and get some idea of what you face.

If I remember correctly VIX does have sofcams in Plugins where as openATV does not you need to install from softcan feed.
