Hi all,

My parents have iptv and a magbox which they have been happy with for a number of years. Today I got a phone call that there iptv was no longer working and they needed some help. After some time trying to resolve it for them I found out they had moved to nowtv which went live today.

I belive they are blocking iptv. Is there a way round to resolving this? The iptv provider sent an email about using a firestick over 2 months ago however when I asked for help my 4 emails were all ignored. Not sure what to do now.

Lots of providers are moving away from mag boxes.
When he told you to get a firestick did he send you an app to use along with username and password?
If not you may need to get another provider, throw the mag box in the bin and use Android

A firestick is just one option for iptv. If your parents are older they might prefer a formuler device due to the more traditional style remote and easy to navigate interface. If they've had many good years use with mags they're probs used to shelling out a similar price for a device. Firesticks are very good value for money but the remote is small and fiddly.

I was with nowtv never blocked ask your provider to clear all ip logs see if that helps also turn all firewall settings off on the router as pablo has mentioned sky has changed things their end which has had implications on iptv.
Some providers have temp fixes mag boxes arnt going to handle the new stream codec especially old mag boxes when all providers change to it
if they prefer the mag box layout then get a firestick and put stb emu pro on it most providers have a hard cored version so it’s a simple change of MAC address on his panel.
Another alternative depending on make and model do they have a smart tv as that can also be used for iptv.

EDIT you say now tv are blocking are all other devices like mobiles connecting and getting internet is the mag box on WiFi or hardwired and they have actually setup the router correctly and tried different ethanet port ect

Thanks for the replies. My iptv provider did send out an email 2 mo the ago about sly and now tv blocking iptv so would need a firestick. However, I never told that to my parents and also wasn't aware they were moving to a new fibre provider. They have only been with nowtv fibre for 1 day so will see if I can get it cancelled without paying any fees.

Our iptv provider did say to move to a Firestick with a vpn, however I tried this in my own house with no luck. My emails are often ignored by him and in past 2ish months I got 2 replies, one saying what to download and what server details to add. However, my username and password didn't seem to work so I got quite a rude email from them saying "everyone else manage to sort it out, instructions have been sent."

No helpful at all really.

If it was me bud I would be looking for a better iptv service as if not willing to help you sort your issues with better advice then I would tell them to fekk off is there any letters in the password that looks the same like capital i and lowercase L

We should avoid ISP's who are known to block IPTV or use VPN. For older people the steps of starting VPN and then using a STB EMU on firestick can be very daunting.

Email him asking if there is any IP lock that can be reset. It may be that the connection is locked to the old ISP IP address.
