There is already a company called Meta and it is asking for several million to give the name to Mark Zuckerberg

Before choosing a name for your company, you should do some research that it is not yet registered by someone else, a small detail that Mark Zuckerberg forgot when he changed the name of Facebook to Meta.

Just a week ago, Mark Zuckerberg loudly announced that Facebook will now be called Meta , a change to make way for its metaverse . But the tycoon could have problems adopting his new identity, since there is already a company called Meta in the United States, which would be willing to give him its name in exchange for several million dollars.

The Meta PC company, dedicated to selling computers, laptops, tablets and software, has operated for more than a year under that name, but just last August they presented the documents to convert 'Meta' into their trademark, reports TMZ.

However, to avoid a lawsuit, the founders of the small technology company, Joe Darger and Zack Shutt , ask for a payment of 20 million dollars to withdraw the registration application and free the name of ' Meta' .

Faced with the possibility of winning a good sum of money, Meta PC has taken the matter with good humor. To take advantage of the momentum that this controversy is giving them, they published a meme on their social networks where Mark Zuckerberg appears presenting a company product, just as he did when announcing his new brand on October 28.

For his part, Schutt posted a joking video on Twitter revealing the name change from Meta PC to Facebook.

Fekking cants like him deserve to go deep into their pockets like in this situation.

If the book and all the rest of the platforms died today and social media was no more it would be the greatest day in history.

Hmmmm I don't agree with this, social media is a great platform for families to talk if they struggle to get out due to illness or if family lives on the otherside of the world

Good for people who are sick and raising awareness about there illness
Good for people who have gone missing and need people to spread the word.

There's alot to love about social media but also alot to hate.

It's only bad because of the people who feel there allowed to use it as a weapon

That's fine you disagree. It's just my own point of view on social media and why I despise it as I seen first hand the poison that spews on it.

What point?

I only use Facebook to communicate to friends and family overseas. If there was another easy way trust me I wouldn't have Facebook.

You enjoy social media and see the positives good for you then and more power to you then (y)
That's exactly what I said, it's good for people to use to speak to family's overseas, its not all negative 😁👍🏻👍🏻

Also there's is another way

Its called a telephone 👍🏻👍🏻

Fair enough that's your point of view.

Well it ain't free to call overseas that's for sure and they don't have other services to contact them free over unlike the book.

I tend to agree with this,
not so much on the screenshot you added where it was suggested (not by you) that it was about reading posts from people you didnt want to associate with.
any friends I have on FB are actual real life friends,
due to my work Im often overseas,
the best man at my wedding (whom I've known for over 30 years) , lives outside the UK,
I live in a different country from my mother brother sister etc,
I see most of them at least once a year, sometimes more, sometimes 2 years,
BUT, each and every friend I have on any social media are ACTUAL REAL LIFE FRIENDS,
and I have LinkedIN purely as a work platform.

Agreed mate, its a great tool to speak to friends that you don't have the privilege to see every week, it's terrible as a weapon for racist abuse ect.... but its not all bad at all

Social media has its place im not a huge fan personally i think some young people really struggle with real life face to face communication.

It deprives some of the social skills us older folk have.

Back when my kids where younger ive seen them chatting to each other via whatever platform over a decent period of time while been in the same house :dizzy:
