A little guidance please

Hi everyone haven’t been on here for a good while but an email appeared in my inbox and whilst I’m sitting in this waiting room thought I’d have a browse around again

I’m hoping for a few pointers maybe a little guidance.

I was clearing out some old tech and came across couple of zgemma box’s (think one is h2 and other is h5?) I used a few years ago and wondering are they good for anything sat wise? I still have a fixed dish wired up.

I used to use them for service provided by a friend but that died the same time as everyone else’s and been on iptv with Firestick a for few years now.

Are they usable is it worth using em?

Any advice or pointers to info/guides greatly appreciated

If you can move your dish to a different position there are other sat's to use the box's with.23.5,19 and 13 east.your dish at the moment will be at 28.2 east and as long as you have a clear line of sight you could potentially pick them sat's up

I miss the simpler days of my motorised dish and Diablo cam and art sport sub lol

Are they no good for sly or as iptv box?

You can use them for IPTV but only if you found a provider with lo-Res streams, they can't handle the HEVC streams most providers now use.
As far as using it for sky, there's not much clears, plus you can't buy lines for 28.2.
Freesat has about 120 channels

I’ve got an old external hard drive knocking round as well could it be used as freesat recorder maybe? Or is that complicated/unreliable and just buy a dedicated recorder box?
I did find a youview box in there as well is there any use for those anymore?

Yes, that's straightforward, just replace a usb stick with the HDD, plugging in to the usb port on the box. It will need to be initialised on the box before you can use it
