Look on Amazon there are some good low priced tv`s from TCL with built in firetv or android tv .

Currys Hisence 55inch had this for sale £299 and Amazon £279. I went for the Amazon deal. Like currys it not going to arrive until Monday August 12th due to European speed (common market)

Good deal from Amazon

Hoepfully do the job.
HISENSE 50A6KTUK 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV with Amazon Alexa

I've had all the brands over the last 10 years or so and would go for Samsung or LG every time. Wouldn't touch the cheaper brands Hisense, Toshiba or Hitachi ever again as they always have drawbacks in one way or another. I've found Samsung always works seamlessly with other devices and reliable. Just my opinion, buy cheap......buy twice.

Are Sony Bravia TVs any better than Samsung & LG TVs?

I think it really depends on your budget and what features are important to you. The OP had a tight budget and there was a good LG model suggested, but still over their budget.

Before my LG OLED I always bought Samsung TV’s. But generally these have been around £1000. The tight Scotsman in me grudgingly spent nearly £1800 on my LG OLED in 2021. I don’t regret it for one minute, but this is 5 times the budget the OP posted. If money was no object, then buy the best you can afford. I wouldn’t knock HiSense as they have a very good reputation, which is validated by people’s comments above.
