I travel 400 miles a week for work so decided to get something more economical and comfortable given I spend so much time in it. Decided on a Cupra formentor Hybrid Vz2 with 7k on the clock.

So far averaging 120mpg on hybrid after two week's usage. It will go up as I haven't kept it charged as I've only just got a EV charger installed 2 days ago.

Car Tax on this model is ridiculous. I should of researched the cost before buying it. I presumed because I was helping the environment 🙄 it would be cheap. How wrong I was.

"For a Cupra Formentor hybrid with a list price over £40,000, you'll pay the standard road tax rate (currently £190 per year) plus an additional "expensive car" tax for the first five years of registration. This additional tax is currently £410 per year" 😲

Lovely car to drive and surprising how quick it is at 245bhp. Part of the VAG group so hoping its a reliable motor.

Nice motor,i was well aware of the luxury car tax that even applys to electric cars when i bought my A3 so tried to keep it under 40K.
Think the goverment are looking at it to increase the 40K as most electric motors are dearer than that. But the increase will only apply to electric cars.

Just shows it's nothing to do with saving the environment, doesn't it.

I paid £20 a year on my previous car that was a diesel. I nearly fell off my chair when it came to taxing it from the dealers.

I'm thinking (hoping!) that the level of £40,000 will be raised in the October budget ; The rate has not changed since 2017 !!!

You knew where to place the car for the impact shot 👍. 120mpg is brilliant , I thought you only got about 30 miles electric with a hybrid. I’m going ev in next couple of weeks …scary and exciting . Mines a company car and cos it’s all electric the benefit in kind for company car tax is very low , I think it’s 5% this year , rising by 1% each year for next few years . It will save me about £2.5k in tax and hopefully about £60 a month in fuel.

Unfortunately it won't affect me having a hybrid as they're only considering it for pure EVs as @silverblack suggested.

I can run it as pure electric and can get 37 miles total. So that lasts me the weekend when not at work.
When I run it in electric mode it comes back with 300mpg. Not quite sure how it gets those figures given I haven't started the engine.

When I run it on hybrid it's averaging 120 mpg for now. That has gone up considerably the last few days after charging it every night, and it's still climbing.

Good luck with it, hope you enjoy it. Be sure to post about in this section, it once you've got it and tried it out a little.
