Onn 4k plus any one using one

Hmmmm... You're right about connection sharing, phone doesn't share the VPN! Also tried on my Mac sharing my VPN Unlimited connection but that didn't work either. My router is also an issue. I use a 5G router MC801a, and although it has support for L2TP VPNs, I couldn't get that to work either. I used a free VPN from freevpn.us, put all the login/password/pre share key etc but nope wouldn't connect :( Any other ideas?

Yes @plasterer is correct wont work via the phone hotspot as I tried that with my ONN box and wouldnt recognise it was on a VPN...had to use router method...you can use a PC heard sharing a VPN works but I never tried it.

If you personally know the buyer. ie, if they are a mate . Ask them to set the box up over there for you. I have all 3 models , the basic 20$ , the 50$ and the 30$. Bought em all from Walmart Supercenters whilst on separate vacation trips. Plugged em into TV in hotel room and added my google details. Didnt use VPN.
They all work fine here in UK.

Personoaly Thourght them travelled routers were hit and miss. I got a duel band Asus router off the bay for 40 odd quid. Changed the firmware, and it's been a godsend compared to vm superhub 3.
 
Got my onn box 90% sorted now I need a launcher which I can personalise with a wallpaper of choice tried wolflauncher but to no avail tried to send logo with send files to tv but not connecting settings seem right bit lost atm I have a Google chromcast which connects no problem bit lost now any suggestions appreciated

Personally after doing some research found Projectivy Launcher the best on my ONN 4K Plus...nice and clean loads of customisation including wallpapers thought i aint gone that far into it as its a paid app. But I will most likely be buying it.

How you finding the device?
 
I haven't really used it yet was settling one up for friend he wanted his local football club badge on start up I have mine on my firestick but just would not connect will try projectivty
 
If you can live without the custom wallpaper, these boxes have an apps only mode.

From reddit:
Go to settings/Accounts & Profile. Click on your account and scroll all the way down. That's where you'll find "Apps only mode".

I use Projectivy launcher paid version and it has great customisation options.
I use atvTools app to send files to Android device so should work with Onn devices.


 
Rite guys got the wallpaper sorted toggled few settings and low and behold lost sound on it done a Google search found out if I go to display and sounds and disable hdmi-cec the sound would come back strange which now means tv remote won't control the box any body using there TV remote on the box also if anyone could post which are the best settings for picture so I can change them
 
If anybody wants strongbox s3 I have a few brand new. Save all this trouble they will play true dolby vision etc all the big 60 gig + movies.

I found best to use kodi as player for the big 60 gig+ files
